Theatrix Theatre Company continues to be a popular dance and performing arts company.

We provide a variety of dance disciplines; Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Lyrical, Irish, Acro, Commercial, Contemporary, Bollywood and Hoop Dancing. Singing and musical theatre is also taught in the school. We teach the students the required technique and strategies used in performing arts.

We aim to create an environment where everybody feels they are an important aspect to the school, as well as making sure all students excel, regardless of gender, race, class, ability, or disability.

Theatrix has their very own competition and performance team, where they have performed at the Liverpool M&S Bank Arena twice for the Can You Dance Convention, and the Ultimate Dance Showcase UK. Move It Dance in London has been a popular trip of ours to take the students on, where they take part in different workshops with top choreographers, as well as watching professional dancers on stage.

Our school is proud to be part of the British Theatre Dance Association, where we have their examiners come to our school for us to show them our hard work and determination. This includes optional accredited examinations and medal tests. We organise shows held at a a variety of different places, including the Gaiety Theatre.

Sophie Linham

Contemporary and Commercial Teacher. The Islanders Competition and Performance Team Teacher

Sophie has spent the last three years studying for a BA (Hons) in Dance where she gained a 1st class degree. During her time at university she gained experience in performing, choreographing, teaching, presenting, writing and researching, as well as building her technique to a professional standard in disciplines including ballet, contemporary, jazz, capoeira, flamenco, circus, bharatanatyam, Pilates, yoga, PBT, body conditioning etc. Sophie has enjoyed being part of intensive programs at her time there working with well known contemporary choreographers including Beth Payton and Laura Vanhulle, these have been curtain raisers for well known artists. Before leaving for uni she obtained intermediate in my ISTD ballet and had experience performing in dance conventions as well as at more local shows. Before deciding Sophie wanted to dance full time, she represented the island in competitive swimming where she’d train 9 times per week. This was something she absolutely loved and still enjoy now. Sophie is also a type one diabetic so feels teaching is a great platform for people like herself to inspire younger generations in the same position. She was lucky enough to be able to work on a 15 minute piece of choreography about the disease for her dissertation where she also gained a first. It was exciting to be able to talk about this with Diabetes UK. Sophie absolutely loves performing or choreographing to perform, and in turn helping people find their passion for dance. Sophie is also involved with teaching The Islanders Team, training our students for performances and competitions on and off island.
